The first senior net session was held at at Uppingham school sports
centre last Thursday evening & was very well attended. The nets
will run for 10 weeks at a cost of £20 per person.
We will be placing an order for new club kit on April 1st. If you
need any new kit for the new season (shirts, sweaters, rain-jackets,
caps etc) please contact Adi Salt or Kev Bennett before the end of March.
The NatWest Cricket Force initiative takes place over the
weekend of 27th/28th of March this year & we will be looking for the
help & support of local businesses for the donation of time &
materials as we prepare the club for the coming season. With our new
ground development also ongoing it is an idea time any local firms or
individuals to become involved in our community sports project. If you
would like more information on how we could benefit each other,
please contact us.
Ben Collins was voted the Rutland League Young Player of the
Year 2009. Ben was presented with his award by Leicestershire's Matt
Boyce at the Rutland League dinner held at Peterborough Golf Club.
The latest 100 club draw has now taken place with Gary Marsh winning
the first prize, Claire Cox second & Tony Flowers third. Any new members would be very
welcome.
The first team lost their final game of the season away at Rushton
last Sunday & have now been relegated.
The
seconds have also finished their league campaign & despite topping the
table for most of the season have finished third but have still been
promoted to division 4 of the Rutland League.
The 3rd's completed their final game of the season at Croxton Kerrial
CC with an emphatic win. Fielding a side where Jamie Morton and Danny
Dumford were the senior pros, Uppingham set Croxton a stiff target of
211 having only lost 6 wickets. All batsmen contributed with the
highlight towards the end of the innings - two enormous sixes from Will
Howe to collect maximum batting points.
Uppingham produced a strong fielding display to dismiss Croxton for
128 - George Scott picking up 3 wickets and at one point being on the
verge of a hat-trick. The win leaves the 3rds promoted in second place.
Neil Wedge would like to thank Mike Gaul for umpiring during the season,
the parents of the 3rd XI players for providing transport and teas in
2009 & all of the traveling supporters.
The Burrough League team also had a good season, winning the Plate
competition & finishing third in the league only two points behind the
Champions despite having lost four games to the weather.
The 2010 Rutland League fixtures for the first & second teams are now
on the fixture pages.
Next season we have entered a team in the John Wilcox cup & will play
Wisbech at home on 30th May.
The 2009 senior presentation evening was held at The Falcon Hotel on
Friday 9th October & over 140 of the clubs players, members & supporters
were in attendance. We were fortunate to have Mike Turner MBE to present the trophies.
Mike is the ECB Chief Funding Consultant and has taken a keen
interest in our project.
Many thanks to The Falcon Hotel & it's staff for all of their hard
work that made the evening a great success & to Charlie Scott, Adi Salt
& Claire Cox for all of their work preparing for the event.

The UTCC
100 Club Please read. More support from players
would be muchappreciated.
Many thanks to
all those that came to the quiz last Friday evening. It was a great
success with 11 teams competing & the bar emptied! Valuable funds were raised for the club.
Thanks to quizmaster Sir, Gary Marsh for raising his voice above the
rowdy minions.
The U13's & U15's have recently returned from a tour to Kent. Report
& pictures here.
Not much to report on the new ground development at the moment. All
is going to plan, the weather has been very good for it this summer with
the grass growing very well & needing cutting regularly. The water
supply has now been connected & we are now busy trying to acquire the
funding for the pavilion build. The squares and outfields have recently
been sprayed with a broad leaf herbicide to eliminate the weeds growing
in the otherwise excellent playing surfaces. We shall be applying autumn
fertilizer soon and then regularly spiking to aerate the squares from
now until January. Please try & attend any
social/fundraising events that we hold at the club as this will provide
vital money towards the fixtures & fittings of the new pavilion.
If you ever shop online, please have a look
here as you could raise money for the
club with no extra cost to yourself.
On Thursday 20th August we held the junior presentation &
bowl-out up at the club. Trophy presentation was by club president Mike
Gaul & a barbeque was also be held from 7.00pm
onwards (Thanks to Alan Brown, Scott Green & Jamie Dumford for their
cooking skills). There was a very good turnout that showed great support for the
junior section of the club & was greatly appreciated. Pictures
coming soon.
Many thanks to all of the junior coaches for their dedication & hard
work during the season, Helen Bennett, Sue Wild & Mandy Robertson for
their work on the bar/sweet counter, Charlie Scott, Micky Clarke, Alan
Brown, Adi Salt & Will Cropper for their work preparing the
wickets/outfield & all parents & supporters that supplied transport &
support for the teams during the season. It has once again been a good
season for the junior section of the club & we hope to see you all again
next year.
Before a meeting of the Uppingham Town council on 4th February, Mayor
Karen Senogles presented UTCC chairman Charlie Scott with a cheque for
£10,000 towards towards the development of our new ground. Also present
were former Major Colin Forsyth & Town Clerk Susan Awcock, along with
junior club members George Scott & Rachel Richardson, a Leicestershire
county player.
We would like to take this opportunity of thanking
all of our 2009 sponsors & hoping that we can look forward to your
continued support in 2010. Any new sponsors of the club
would be very welcome as we look to build for the future.
More senior player profiles needed please.

The clubs annual dinner & presentation evening was held at
The Falcon hotel & was once again a great success with 160 of the clubs
players, supporters & sponsors attending. Many thanks to all those that
attended. Pictures.
Following last years dismal response to the request
for photos of club members in their
UTCC shirts around the world, I thought we would give it another try
this year. The first picture received was from Ed Scott who wore his
shirt while over in Kenya.
We are a Focus Club & we have now
also gained ECB ClubMark accreditation whereby we have demonstrated that we are fully equipped in
every sense to look after youngsters and promote cricket
to the youth of the community.
To comply with ClubMark regulations we have a
Child Welfare Officer and we ensure that sufficient
qualified coaches and supplementary
helpers are always
available to look after all of our colts.
All of our coaches and helpers have undergone
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks and all coaches
have taken first aid courses in addition to their
level 1 or 2 cricket coaching courses.
You can rest assured that your children are in
safe hands at the club.
We are looking to find out as much about the clubs
history as possible. If you have any old
documents, photographs etc that relate to the club that we could have,
or have copies of, please pass them on to a committee member.
Any early
memories or stories about the club would also be of great interest. Many
thanks to club president the late Peter Scott for his contribution.
If any club captains or officials have any reports or information
that they would like posted on the site, please send it to me at
kevbennett@uppinghamtowncc.co.uk
(Ideally in Word or Excel formats).
We have added a Player Profiles section to all teams. If you would like
to add your profile you can download a formhere.
