Around 160 players and guests enjoyed
Uppingham Town Cricket Club's annual awards
dinner at the town's Falcon Hotel.
Despite the first team's relegation from
Rutland League Division 1 just 12 months after
winning promotion, chairman Charlie Scott hailed
the summer a success in his address to the
gathering.
There were some encouraging off-field
developments and the junior section also
attained some notable achievements.
Uppingham played about 180 matches, from the
juniors through to first team level, although
many of the early games were disappointingly
lost to poor weather.
Mr Scott indicated that the club had ambitions
to achieve ECB Focus Club status and in 2008
progress to become Clubmark accredited – eight
volunteers achieved Level 1 Coaching status with
the ECB in May of this year.
A number of junior players were recognised for
their achievements including selection for
Leicestershire – Ben Farnsworth and Ben Collins
– the latter going on to play for the Midlands.
Sponsors Jewsons Builders Merchants of Corby
were represented by Michael Brambini, who
presented awards to the following players and
supporters:

15s Bowling Award - Danny Dumford; Under 15s
