Uppingham Town Cricket Club

It was a glorious summers afternoon with temperatures reaching into mid 20's. Uppingham won the toss and elected to field which looked to be the correct decision as the pitch looked a very slow wicket. Uppingham started very well with the youngster Danny Dumford bowling tremendously well with figures of 7-5-2-1 and was backed up by Duncan Crombie with figures 7-2-15-1. Danny picked up the wicket of Matt Rodgers for 0 runs in his first over with his second ball and Duncan picked up the wicket of Jack Meason for only 6 runs, with a sharp stumping from Archey Sains. Hallaton were reduced to only 18 runs off the first 14 over's. Roger Dumford was then bought into the attack and picking up 3 wickets and was on a hat trick ball but unfortunately didn't get it. Jake Clarkson batted very well for Hallaton right at the end scoring a quick 31 runs including four sixes. Hallaton posted a well thought 108.

In return Uppingham started very slowly scoring only 4 runs off the frist 7 over's. The tempo was then lifted by the appearance fo D.Crombi scoring some quick runs. J.Clarkson bowled really well for Hallaton with figures of 7-1-22-4. Paul Hern came to the crease scoring a quick 5 runs. Brian Clarke was dismissed by J.Clarkson for another duck to add to his name. It was left to R.Dumford and D.Crombie to finish the game off in the 34th over. D.Crombie finishing 33 Not Out and R.Dumford hitting the winning runs and finishing on 11 Not Out.

It was a very close match going down to the wire and you can't fault the weather on this occasion.
