Youngster Tom Hubbard falls 1 run short of Century.
Uppingham Town Friendly eleven won a close game at home to Islip, by clinching victory on the last ball. Town won the toss and elected to field first. They started off not too bad with Clarke and Dumford. Clarke picked up 1 wicket. T.Hankins batted very well for his 74 runs before being dismissed LBW. Islip totalled 189 for 5.
In reply, Uppingahm didn’t start off too good losing two early wickets. T.Hubbard then came to the crease and was playing some cracking shots all round the ground. E.Scott was also out early which then brought Dumford to the crease. Hubbard and Dumford put on a magnificent 118 run partnership which was crucial. Dumford was then dismissed in the 36th over for a well played 34 runs. Hubbard and Clarke saw the game out with Hubbard hitting two fours off the final two balls of the match. Unfortunately Hubbard finished on 99 Not Out and failed to make his first century. Clarke 9 Not Out.
It was a good tight game going down to the final ball. |
