Uppingham Saturday Friendly XI were at home to Narborough &
Littlethorpe in a fixture that was played in hot humid conditions, The
home team went into bat first with Steve Wade and Tom Hubbard opening
for Uppingham. After 10 overs things looked really good with 47 for no
wicket on the board.
Both opening batsmen continued to do really well putting on an
opening wicket partnership of 203 runs before Tom was caught off the
bowling of Hills for his 90 runs.
Wade went onto record his first career century which included 11
fours, which was a brilliant effort. If averages are anything to go by,
his next century will be when he is 85 years old.
The team went onto score 231 with contributions from the Dumford boys
who both scored 7 runs each.
" Tetley" Wade went onto score 104 n.o. and batted for the 40 overs,
which was an outstanding effort.
After tea Narborough went into bat and seemed to struggle against
some accurate and tight bowling from the Uppingham youngsters who all
did well with the ball, the visitors went on to score only 130 odd runs
falling short of the uppingham total.
