Held on

Sunday 18th February 2007

At the Falcon Hotel – 7.30pm

1          Apologies: C Bartram, S Berridge, B Clarke, P Cox, A Fruin, G Marsh & O Webb.

2          Minutes of previous meeting read, agreed and signed.

3          Matters Arising - none

4          Treasurers Report

Excellent bar takings at £13346 with a £7416 profit.  76% bar mark up which we are happy with, the best we have seen. It was felt the increase was down to better organisation of bar staff & less beer wastage.  It is good to be able to put profit toward the long term future plans.  Thanks to D Reeve for his treasury work.

5                    Captains Reports for 2006

Under 9’s – Played 8, won 6.  We just missed out on winning the league.  Competitive & enthusiastic lads who all contributed to the batting & bowling.

Under 10’s – Leics. League (Softball) - Everyone had a game and only 1 game was lost.  All ready to go on to play hard ball cricket.

Under 11’s – 8 games played, all were won & the league.  1 game was won by 200 runs, an excellent season.

Under 12’s – Played 5, won 5.  Not such a good league but we won it.  We fielded 28 boys & 1 girl.

Under 13’s – Played 9, won 7, lost 2 to Bourne who were the strongest team.  We won the Doug Druce Cup beating Bourne in early September.  A good bunch of lads, thanks to Will Cropper who captained & to J Dumford for umpiring.  Two players have gone onto play for the county, B Collins & Rachel Richardson.

Under 15’s – A disappointing season with only 6 games played.  Won 4 & lost 2.  Hard to get the fixtures arranged.  We only had 11 players & poor support with transport.  The players were disheartened with the lack of games.  The league was poorly run.

Thanks were given to all Junior Managers & helpers.

Friday Boys – 10 good games played.  Good to provide cricket to all ages and important to see new faces.  There were also some decent bar takings which Friday nights are essential for.  Thanks to S Smith & N Russell for running this side.

Burrough League – Overall we won more than we lost.  M Cox won the league batting.  We are in division 2 next year which will suit us better.

Saturday Friendly Team - 22 friendlies played using 75 different players!  S Wade was the highest run scorer, with 46 being his highest score, jug avoidance!  R Roberts won the bowling.

Sunday Friendly Team – A good season with some excellent youngsters playing e.g. – Ben Collins & Will Cropper.  A season of excellent bowling & fielding but not so good with the bat.  22 players used over the season.

Thanks to D Thorpe & G Marsh for running the Friendly sides.

2nd X1 – We came fourth in the league, not a bad league but hope it will be better next year.  We beat a strong Oundle side.  A Brown scored his first ever 100.  We saw promising young keeper in Jamie Dumford.

1st X1 – Won 12 lost 4, 2 abandoned, lots of last over victories with Ufford being the result of the season when we were chasing 263.  The top of the table clash with Nassington was also a highlight when C Bartram got a hat trick in the last over & was subsequently nominated for the Rutland Times Sporting Moment for it. We went out of the Stamford Cup in the Semis to Ketton.  K Bennett played in all 1st XI fixtures.  It was a great team performance throughout the season.

Rutland XI Fixture – M Cox captained the side with C Bartram & C Howe also playing.  Thanks to M Clarke & C Scott for the wickets every week also thanks to the growing support.  This next season we will need to be professional but also enjoy being in the 1st division.  C Scott wished the team all the best in the 1st division & congratulated M Cox for being nominated for Rutland Times Sports Personality for the third year running.

8      Club Constitution Rule Changes – None

AOB

·                    Club Kit – we are liaising with suppliers for new kit.

·                    Sponsorship – we have had substantial sponsorship from Jewsons, C Richardson, Morcott Tyres & Natwest.

·                    Coaching Courses – 8 members are going forward for courses.  This is essential towards our Long Term Future.

·                    Saturday League Cricket – proposed that for the future of the club we should be introducing a Saturday league to develop our youngsters.  Proposal was to join the South Lincs League in a lower division.

·                    Subscriptions – everyone is reminded that they are to be paid soon.

Long Term Plans – we need to consider owning a pitch of our own, we have no problems with our current pitch and are very grateful to Uppingham School for the use of it.  Owning our own ground is best for the future of the club, some investigations are under way as to possible land purchase.

Date of next AGM meeting: Sunday 17h February 2008, The Falcon 7.30pm
