Uppingham Town Cricket Club

In our annual visit to the beautiful surroundings in the grounds of the former Nevill Holt school, the home team elected to bat first. Uppingham with the opening pairing of Clarke and Jones started very well keeping them pinned down early on with a low run rate. The Uppingham bowling attack continued to bowl very well in very sticky and humid conditions especially as it was only our second game of the season. An excellent debut for the agile keeper Ben Harford which was a major plus playing in his first senior game. Nevill Holt went on to post a score of 134 for 8 in their overs.

After tea we went into bat in what was to be very testing with some of their more experienced pacy bowlers, in particular their opening bowler Jones who went on to get his Hat-trick in his eighth over. Some of the clubs youth players were in the team and credit goes to Jake Norton, Ben Harford & Tom Roberts who all play for our Under-13 team did well with the bat showing some of us oldies how to do it. Duncan Crombie who has also joined the club this year did well for his 19 runs, Unfortunately we could only achieve 68 all out in what proved to be a stiff test.
Thanks also goes to our Treasurer Dick Reeve who only came to walk the dogs and give much valued support who ended up scoring and being our phycological mentor.
